The Animal Eye Institute excels at the diagnosis, surgery, and medical treatment of eye disorders for companion animals (dogs and cats), large animals (horses, llamas, cattle), exotic and pocket pets. Most procedures are possible to perform on an out-patient basis.

Dr. Christina Korb

Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist

Medical Director of The Animal Eye Institute of Charleston

Dr. Korb grew up in South Carolina. Her love for animals was found early on as her childhood was always full of family dogs, many hamsters, and even ferrets. She attended College of Charleston, in Charleston, South Carolina, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After completing business school, she decided to change career paths and become a veterinarian. She graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She was awarded the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists’ Veterinary Student Award during her time in veterinary school. She then completed a one year small animal rotating internship at The University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center. She joined the team at The Animal Eye Institute in 2017. Dr. Korb completed both a Specialty Internship and an ABVO approved residency with The Animal Eye Institute and then achieved board certification. Dr. Korb is excited to continue her career with The Animal Eye Institute working with a team that is devoted to providing the very best ophthalmic medicine and patient care in the area. Her clinical interests are cataract surgery, corneal surgery, and ocular surface disease. In her spare time, Dr. Korb enjoys staying active, listening to true crime podcasts, and spending time with her Maltese Poodles, Charlie and Tucker. Dr. Korb is the lead ophthalmologist of the Charleston, South Carolina office.

Lusie

Lusie has been in the veterinary field since 2006 and has an Associate’s degree in Applied Science - Veterinary Technology from Trident Technical College. Lusie became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in January 2008. In her career she has primarily been a Practice Manager and a Lead Technician. She feels that her past experience has helped her grow professionally as well as build her leadership skills. Additionally, Lusie is a Cat Friendly Veterinary Advocate and practices Low-Stress Handling and Fear Free techniques. 

She shares her home in rural Berkeley County with her husband, son and daughter. Lusie’s family also includes a Pug named Pixie, a Terrier mix named Molly, and a cat named Trapper. To make their critter count a bit crazier, they own chickens, goats and a donkey as well! In her spare time, Lusie enjoys spending time with family and friends, going boating, and spending time at the beach.

Lusie joined The Animal Eye Institute team in Charleston in April of 2024. She is honored to work beside an amazing team that is ready to provide exceptional veterinary care to the patients we serve.

Tara

Tara grew up in Jupiter, Florida but moved to Charleston in 2005. She graduated from College of Charleston in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She enjoys being outdoors, traveling and hanging out with family and friends in her free time.

Frankie

Frankie was raised in Toms River, NJ and moved to Charleston in 2023. She has been a veterinary assistant for nearly 2 years and began her career with general practice in New Jersey. Frankie has 2 huskies, Philly and Mika, that she loves running and spending time with.
